Prospective students single in-person visits

If you have been invited by one of our faculty members to visit the UChicago Campus after the virtual Open House held on March 4, please read carefully the guidelines below before arranging for your visit.

• Be aware of the University’s COVID-19 guidance for Campus Visitors;
• Make sure to agree on a date for the visit that works both for you and for the your main contact among our faculty i.e. the professor that invited you that will serve as host during your visit;
• If during your visit you are interested to meet other faculty members please contact them separately by email to check about their availability. Keep your host informed about your final list of meetings.

Reimbursement 

UChicago Physics will reimburse up to $500 in travel and lodging for visits before April 15, 2022. Please note that we will only reimburse the most economical method of travel. This usually consists of economy flights; however, sometimes alternate methods of travel are requested, such as renting a car or train. Reimbursement may take up to three weeks and it will arrive in a form of a check to your mailing address.

To initiate the procedure:

• Download the UChicago Physics Reimbursement Form.
• Fill the first section of the form with your contact informations. Make sure that the mailing address is correct since the check will be mailed to you;
• Fill the second section of the form with the list of expenses for which you ask reimbursement (date, short explanation, dollar amount);
• Prepare a one PDF of all your receipts combined and saved as “Your_Name Receipts”
• Send both files by email to Putri (putrikusumo@uchicago.edu);

Flying to Chicago

If you choose to fly to Chicago for your visit, there are two major commercial airports in the Chicago area: O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport.

• Midway International Airport about 8 miles west from UChicago Hyde Park Campus.
• O’Hare International Airport about 30 miles north west from UChicago Hyde Park Campus.
